Dr. John and Lyn Boal

John grew up in western Pennsylvania, and Lyn grew up on a farm in southeast Iowa.  They met while attending Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, and were married in 1984.  Upon graduation, they moved to Simi Valley California and worked at a church and school as educators.  John completed his Master of Divinity from The Masters Seminary and earned a doctorate degree from Robert Morris University in 2011. John worked in Development for over 20 years.  He served as the Chief Development Officer at Hume for the last five years.  Currently he is serving as the Executive Director for Hume.  John and Lyn have three adult children: Hannah, Jesse, and daughter-in-law Vanessa.  They are excited as they await the birth of their first grandchild in early 2024.

Dr. Jerry and Claudia Root

Dr. Jerry Root is professor emeritus at Wheaton College, as well as a visiting professor at Biola University, Talbot Graduate School of Theology, and Moody Bible Institute teaching C. S. Lewis courses at all three schools. For over forty-one years, Dr. Root has lectured on C.S. Lewis topics at 78 universities in 18 countries. He is the author of numerous C.S. Lewis focused books, articles and publications. He is married to Claudia Root and together they have four married children and 15 grandchildren.

Claudia is a graduate of the Wheaton College Intercultural/TESOL Graduate School Program.  She has recently retired from teaching ELL to immigrant and refugee students in public schools.  She is now focusing on discipleship with the C.S. Lewis Institute and running the website Bearings on the Bright Blur, which encourages people to grow and develop through blogs, writings, works of C.S. Lewis, and various other authors.
