SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Caesarea - the Roman city where Paul first took the message of the gospel to the Gentiles
  • Caesarea Aqueduct - the ruins of a Roman aqueduct built to supply the ancient city of Caesarea with fresh water
  • Mount Carmel - the mountain on which Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal
  • Carmiel Absorption Center 

 


Thursday, may 2

Around the Sea of Galilee 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Capernaum - the town and synagogue where Jesus preached during his Galilean ministry
  • Mount of Beatitudes - the traditional place where Christ delivered his famous speech on the Beatitudes
  • Ancient Galilee Boat - a fishing boat dating back to the 1st century, excavated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee
  • Sea of Galilee - a freshwater lake in northern Israel where Jesus spent three years ministering and performing miracles
  • Magdala - the hometown of Mary Magdalene where one of the world's oldest synagogues has been excavated
  • Jordan River - the eastern border of Israel and the waters in which John baptized Jesus

Crossing the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat from Jesus' time; then, a unique opportunity to be baptized or re-dedicated in the Jordan River.

Northern Israel

  • Ancient Dan - the northernmost city of Israel and the location of Jeroboam's golden calf
  • Banias Waterfall - a spectacular view of the headwaters of the Jordan River
  • Caesarea Philippi - where Peter professed, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
  • Valley of Tears - a view of Paul's route to Damascus and the modern-day battlegrounds of the Golan Heights

A scenic drive through the lush landscape of northern Israel's Hula Valley.

  • Southern Temple Steps - part of extensive excavations that have unearthed steps from the time of Jesus leading up to the Temple Mount 
  • Ariel - the capital of Samaria

Israel: Yesterday and Today 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Western "Wailing" Wall - a section of the Temple Mount foundation dating back to the 2nd Temple Period and the most sacred Jewish site in Jerusalem
  • Rabbinical Tunnel - an underground excavation project which has exposed the full length of the Western Wall
  • Pool of Bethesda & St. Anne's Church - the pool where Jesus healed an infirmed man
  • Yad Vashem - Israel's memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust
  • City of David Excavations - the original site of King David's capital of Israel, including the Pool of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel

Jerusalem, O Jerusalem


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Lions' Gate - the traditional site of the stoning of St. Stephen
  • Antonia Fortress - the traditional location where Jesus was beaten and mocked with a crown of thorns
  • Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre- the "way of the cross" leading to the traditional site of Jesus' crucifixion
  • Hezekiah's City Wall - wall built by King Hezekiah to prepare for the Assyrian invasion
  • Roman Cardo - the ancient Roman main street through the Old City
  • Temple Institute - an institution focused on the history of the Holy Temple's past, an understanding of its present-day implications, and the Divine promise for Israel's future
  • The Old City - free time to bargain with shopkeepers, return to a site that held special meaning, or sip Turkish coffee at a sidewalk café
