Caesarea by the Sea


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Caesarea - the Roman city where Paul first took the message of the gospel to the Gentiles
  • Caesarea Aqueduct - the ruins of a Roman aqueduct built to supply the ancient city of Caesarea with fresh water
  • Mount Carmel - the mountain on which Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal
  • Megiddo - a strategic city overlooking the gathering place for the armies of Armageddon
  • Nazareth Village - a reenacted first-century Galilean village

Friday, October 5

Around the Sea of Galilee 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Sea of Galilee - a freshwater lake in northern Israel where Jesus spent three years ministering and performing miracles
  • Ancient Galilee Boat - a fishing boat dating back to the 1st century, excavated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee
  • Mount of Beatitudes - the traditional place where Christ delivered his famous speech on the Beatitudes
  • Chorazin - the community Jesus rebuked for their lack of faith
  • Magdala - the hometown of Mary Magdalene and a newly discovered archaeological site
  • Jordan River - the eastern border of Israel and the waters in which John baptized Jesus

Crossing the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat from Jesus' time; then, a unique opportunity to be baptized or re-dedicated in the Jordan River.

Northern Israel

  • Golan Heights - a view of Paul's route to Damascus and modern-day battlegrounds

Down to the Dead Sea

  • Spring of Harod - the traditional location where Gideon chose his 300 men for battle
  • Beth She'an - the ruins of a Roman city and the site where the Philistines displayed the bodies of King Saul and his sons
  • Jericho - the first Canaanite city the Israelites conquered in the Promised Land
  • Wadi Qilt - the wilderness where Jesus was tempted by Satan
  • Qumran - the desert caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered

Monday, October 8

The Judean Wilderness

  • Oasis of Ein Gedi - the waterfall and desert caves where David encountered King Saul

Up to Jerusalem

  • Tel Lachish - a strategic city in the Judean foothills and the location of several important battles
  • Beersheba - the southernmost city of biblical Israel and the occasional home of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
  • Beit Guvrin - a fortified city from the First Temple period and an extensive cavern complex carved beneath the earth
  • Elah Valley - the famous battlefield of David and Goliath
  • Beth Shemesh - where the Philistines returned the Ark of the Covenant to the Israelites
  • Mount Scopus Overlook - a panoramic overlook of Jerusalem with views of the Mount of Olives, the Temple Mount, and the walled city

Wednesday, October 10

Israel: Yesterday and Today

  • Garden of Gethsemane - the traditional location where Jesus prayed and was betrayed 
  • Model of Jerusalem - a model of Herodian Jerusalem as it looked at the time of Christ
  • Shrine of the Book - the home of Israel's greatest archaeological treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Yad Vashem - Israel's memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust

Jerusalem, O Jerusalem

  • Temple Mount - where the second Jewish Temple once stood, now home of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque
  • Pool of Bethesda & St. Anne's Church - the pool where Jesus healed an infirmed man
  • Upper Room - the traditional location of the Last Supper
  • Zion Gate - a bullet-riddled gate to the Old City which stands as a testament to the modern struggle of the Israeli people of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel
  • Hezekiah's City Wall - wall built by King Hezekiah to prepare for the Assyrian invasion
  • Southern Temple Steps - part of an extensive excavation program which has unearthed the main steps leading up to the Temple Mount complex
  • City of David Excavations - the original site of King David's capital of Israel, including the Pool of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel

A trek through the historic and amazing tunnel dug by Hezekiah to survive the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem.

The Passion of the Christ 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Western "Wailing" Wall - a section of the Temple Mount foundation dating back to the 2nd Temple Period and the most sacred Jewish site in Jerusalem
  • Rabbinical Tunnel - an underground excavation project which has exposed the full length of the Western Wall
  • Antonia Fortress - the traditional location where Jesus was beaten and mocked with a crown of thorns
  • Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - the "way of the cross" leading to the traditional site of Jesus' crucifixion
  • Bethlehem Overlook - the serene hillside of Bethlehem where shepherds tend their flock.
  • Herodium - a fortress built by Herod the Great which later became his burial site
  • Gordon's Calvary & the Garden Tomb - an ancient tomb similar to the one in which Christ was buried
