Caesarea by the Sea


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Caesarea - the Roman city where Paul first took the message of the gospel to the Gentiles
  • Caesarea Aqueduct - the ruins of a Roman aqueduct built to supply the ancient city of Caesarea with fresh water
  • Mount Carmel - the mountain on which Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal
  • Megiddo - a strategic city overlooking the gathering place for the armies of Armageddon
  • Nazareth Village - a reenacted first-century Galilean village
YOUR DAY ALSO INCLUDES

A walk through the ancient water tunnel beneath Megiddo; then, an opportunity to experience life in the first century at Nazareth Village.

Around the Sea of Galilee 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Mount Arbel - a vista of the Galilee and sites of Jesus' public ministry
  • Magdala - the home town of Mary Magdalene where one of the world's oldest synagogues has been excavated
  • Ancient Galilee Boat - a fishing boat dating back to the 1st century, excavated on the shore of the Sea of Galilee
  • Sea of Galilee - a freshwater lake in northern Israel where Jesus spent three years ministering and performing miracles
  • Mount of Beatitudes - the traditional place where Christ delivered his famous speech on the Beatitudes
  • Primacy of Peter Church - the traditional place where Christ prepared a meal for His disciples and instructed Peter to care for His sheep
  • Capernaum - the town and synagogue where Jesus preached during his Galilean ministry

Crossing the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat from Jesus' time.

  • Caesarea Philippi - where Peter professed, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
  • Banias Waterfall - a spectacular view of the headwaters of the Jordan River
  • Golan Heights - a view of Paul's route to Damascus and modern-day battlegrounds

A view of Mount Hermon, Israel's tallest mountain, from atop Har Bental.

Down to the Dead Sea

  • Kursi - the traditional site where demons entered the swine after being cast out of the demoniac
  • Beth She'an - the ruins of a Roman city and the site where the Philistines displayed the bodies of King Saul and his sons
  • Qasr el Yahud Baptismal Site - the traditional site where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist
  • Qumran - the desert caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered
  • Dead Sea - a large salt lake in the wilderness and the lowest point on the face of the earth
YOUR DAY ALSO INCLUDES

A scenic drive through the Jordan River Valley between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea; then, an opportunity to experience the most floatable body of water in the world.

The Judean Wilderness 


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Masada - the impenetrable fortress where Jewish zealots made a final stand against Rome
  • Oasis of Ein Gedi - the waterfall and desert caves where David encountered King Saul
  • Mount of Olives - a hill overlooking Jerusalem from the east where Jesus ascended to heaven
  • Dominus Flevit on Palm Sunday Road - a church on the route Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday
  • Garden of Gethsemane - the traditional location where Jesus prayed and was betrayed 
YOUR DAY ALSO INCLUDES

An optional hike across streams and rocks to the caves at Ein Gedi; then, your ascension by bus through the Judean Wilderness up to Jerusalem.

  • Hezekiah's City Wall - wall built by King Hezekiah to prepare for the Assyrian invasion
  • Roman Cardo - the ancient Roman main street through the Old City
  • Tower of David Museum - a fortified citadel and museum which presents the fascinating story of Jerusalem's
  • The Old City - free time to bargain with shopkeepers, return to a site that held special meaning, or sip Turkish coffee at a sidewalk café

Jerusalem, O Jerusalem


SITES YOU WILL VISIT
  • Bethlehem & Church of Nativity - the city of Jesus' birth
  • Shepherds' Field - a serene hillside overlooking Bethlehem where shepherds tend their flock
  • Herodium - a fortress built by Herod the Great which later became his burial site
  • Southern Temple Steps - part of an extensive excavation program which has unearthed the main steps leading up to the Temple Mount complex
  • City of David Excavations - the original site of King David's capital of Israel, including the Pool of Siloam and Hezekiah's Tunnel
YOUR DAY ALSO INCLUDES

A trek through the historic and amazing tunnel dug by Hezekiah to survive the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem.

Israel: Yesterday and Today

  • Yad Vashem - Israel's memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust
  • Israel Museum/Shrine of the Book - the home of Israel's greatest archaeological treasures and the Dead Sea Scrolls
  • Model of Jerusalem - a model of Herodian Jerusalem as it looked at the time of Christ
  • Upper Room - the traditional location of the Last Supper 
  • Saint Peter in Gallicantu - the traditional location of Caiaphas' House where Jesus was taken after His arrest
  • Burnt House - a multimedia presentation visualizing the Roman destruction of Jerusalem
  • Herodian Mansion/Whol Museum - the excavated ruins of an elaborate palace from the time of Herod; traditionally thought to be Caiaphas' House

The Passion of the Christ

  • Western "Wailing" Wall on Shabbat Eve - experience the exciting atmosphere as the orthodox Jews usher in Shabbat at the Western Wall
  • Rabbinical Tunnel - an underground excavation project which has exposed the full length of the Western Wall
  • Antonia Fortress - the traditional location where Jesus was mocked with a crown of thorns
  • Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - the "way of the cross" leading to the traditional site of Jesus' crucifixion
  • Gordon's Calvary & the Garden Tomb - an ancient tomb similar to the one in which Christ was buried

A memorable communion service at the Garden Tomb; then, rejoicing and reminiscing over the extraordinary days spent in the land of our Lord at our Farewell Dinner.
