Wednesday, April 29

David and Goliath

Your Day Includes

  • Beth Shemesh - where the Philistines returned the Ark of the Covenant to the Israelites
  • Elah Valley - the famous battlefield of David and Goliath
  • Tel Lachish - a strategic city in the Judean foothills, where several important battles took place

Down to the Dead Sea

Your Day Includes

  • Wilderness of Zin and Paran - the rugged Negev desert where the Israelites wandered before entering the Promised Land
  • Arad - an ancient desert city, with ruins of a replica temple patterned after the Temple in Jerusalem
  • Dead Sea - the lowest point on the face of the earth and a unique geological phenomenon
  • Swim in the Dead Sea - Experience like never before in the most floatable body of water in the world!

Friday, May 1

The Wilderness

Your Day Includes

  • Masada - the impenetrable fortress where Jewish zealots made a final stand in their revolt against Rome
  • Ein Gedi Oasis with Hike - hike across streams and rocks to the caves at Ein Gedi where David, in his exile, encountered King Saul
  • Qumran - the desert caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered
  • Jericho - the first Canaanite city conquered by the Israelites in the Promised Land

Saturday, May 2

Around the Sea of Galilee

Your Day Includes

  • Magdala - the fishing village of Mary Magdalene and one of the oldest synagogues discovered in the Galilee area
  • Mount Arbel - a stunning vista overlooking the Sea of Galilee and the area Jesus did most of his ministry
  • Boat Ride on the Sea of Galilee - sail the Sea of Galilee in a replica of a boat from Jesus’ time
  • Capernaum - Jesus’ hometown during his Galilean ministry
  • Tabgha - a likely area where Jesus first called some of his disciples
  • Bethsaida - the city known as the “house of fishing” at the time of Christ
  • Chorazin - the community Jesus rebuked for their lack of faith

  • Mount of Beatitudes - the traditional place where Christ delivered the Sermon on the Mount, including the Beatitudes

  • Banias Waterfall - one of the headwaters of the Jordan River
  • Caesarea Philippi - where Peter professed, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  • Golan Heights - a view of Paul’s route to Damascus and the site of recent conflicts between Israel and Syria
  • Kursi Overlook - the traditional site where Jesus cast demons out of a possessed man and into a herd of swine

The Battlefields

Your Day Includes

  • Caesarea - the place where Peter first took the gospel to the Gentiles, and where Paul was imprisoned and evangelized to his captors
  • Caesarea Aqueducts - the ruins of a Roman aqueduct that was built to supply the ancient city of Caesarea with fresh water
  • Mount Carmel - the mountain on which Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal
  • Megiddo - a strategic city overlooking the gathering place for the world’s end-time armies (Armageddon)
  • Mount Precipice - a panoramic view overlooking Nazareth and the Jezreel Valley

City of the Great King

Your Day Includes

  • Temple Mount - where the second Jewish Temple once stood, now home of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque
  • Western Wall Tunnel - an underground excavation project exposing the full length of the Western Wall
  • Western or “Wailing” Wall - a section of the Temple Mount foundation dating back to the 2nd Temple Period and the most sacred Jewish site in Jerusalem
  • Lunch / Free Time - walk through the winding streets and colorful markets within the city walls of old Jerusalem
  • City of David Excavations - the original site of the capital of Israel during King David’s reign
  • Warren’s Shaft - part of the water system connected to the Gihon Spring
  • Hezekiah’s Tunnel (wet) - an amazing tunnel Hezekiah dug to survive the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem
  • Pool of Siloam - the pool where Jesus sent the man born blind to be healed
  • Garden of Gethsemane - the traditional location where Jesus prayed the night he was betrayed

  • Shepherds’ Field - a serene hillside overlooking Bethlehem where “shepherds tended their flock”
  • Herodium - a fortress built by Herod the Great which later became his burial site
  • Yad Vashem - Israel’s memorial to the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust

The Passion of the Christ

Your Day Includes

  • Lions’ Gate - the traditional site of the stoning of St. Stephen
  • Pool of Bethesda / St. Anne’s Church - the pool where Jesus healed a paralytic man
  • Via Dolorosa - the “way of the cross” leading to the traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion
  • Church of the Holy Sepulchre - the traditional site of Jesus’ crucifixion
  • Communion at the Garden Tomb - Experience a memorable communion service and see an ancient tomb similar to the one in which Jesus would have been buried.
  • Southern Temple Steps - part of extensive excavations unearthing steps from the first century, which lead up to the Temple Mount
  • Farewell Dinner - a special dinner to rejoice and reminisce over the extraordinary days spent together
